Wow! Last night, on the way to my room here at the Wynn, I had a Zhang Songtao sighting! What? You don't know him? Well, he's the 6'11" Chinese man on the Knicks Summer League team.
Interesting fact about Zhang Songtao: On NBA.com he's listed as being born on Oct 27th, 1987. On the FIBA website, he's listed as June 17th, 1985.
Is this just a mistake? Or is it possible that this is an obvious example of China making their players seem younger than they really are?
Also, Yi Jianlian's birthday is listed as Oct 27th, 1987. Umm...two Chinese players with the same birthday? Is that the default setting for Chinese players on NBA.com?
